Cow flatulence could be key
A LOW-energy, high-fibre diet could be the solution to global warming -- by stopping cows from farting so much.
Adding a little high cholesterol oil to their diet could stop belching and flatulent cows emitting millions of tonnes of methane, the Irish Farmers' Association said yesterday.
Yesterday the IFA said it was looking at ways to reduce agriculture's impact on the planet.
Chairman of the IFA's Climate Change Working Group Sean O'Leary said another diet, which would see cows ingesting more fibre in their diet, had the potential to reduce methane emissions by as much as 20pc.
Mr O'Leary was speaking at the Partnership for Change conference on climate change
