THREE men yesterday admitted their role in a botched raid on the home of a businessman and his family earlier this year.

The three, from Dublin, pleaded guilty to several charges each at Galway Circuit Court yesterday.

Thomas Freeman (54), of Deansrath Grove, Clondalkin, admitted falsely imprisoning businessman Julian Flynn, his wife, Emma, and their sons, Jonathan and Max, at their home in Lackagh, Turloughmore, on February 15 last.

Michael McCormack (42), of Ballbrook Close, Tallaght, admitted falsely imprisoning Mrs Flynn, her two sons and Mary Murphy.

Freeman and McCormack also pleaded guilty to having a shotgun with intent to commit robbery at the Flynn home and to robbing Mrs Flynn of €3,200.

Greg Kelly (22) of Sandyhill Gardens, Ballymun, admitted falsely imprisoning Laura and Jonathan Flynn, Jim and Nicolette Carroll and to robbing Mrs Flynn of €3,200 on the same date.

Counsel for Kelly told Judge Raymond Groarke that his client had no previous convictions and a number of serious matters had occurred in his teenage years. Judge Groarke agreed to adjourn sentencing until next March.

Freeman was remanded in custody, while McCormack and Kelly were each remanded on continuing bail.
