Council backs 'confusing' road signs

A COUNCIL yesterday defended its 'visitor friendly' road signs after motorists claimed they were very confusing, writes Ralph Riegel. The new road signs - erected over the past two weeks around Cork city at a cost of €90,000 - are aimed at diverting as much traffic as possible away from the city centre and simplifying the journey through Cork for visitors and tourists.
However, some motorists have claimed the signs are confusing because they carry too much information and there aren't enough of them.But Cork City Council members have defended the signs, saying that as motorists get used to them, they will play an increasingly key role in easing traffic congestion at peak times around the city centre.
