Contempt decision on O'Leary deferred

A HIGH Court decision on the application by a Ryanair pilot for chief executive Michael O'Leary and two executives to be found in contempt for allegedly breaching a court order was deferred yesterday.

Mr Justice Barry White, who reserved a decision on the case earlier this month, said yesterday he did not propose giving judgment until the trial of the action had concluded. He said it would be appropriate that judgment be given after the full hearing, due to begin next Tuesday before Mr Justice Declan Budd.

On May 13, Mr Justice White reserved judgment on a claim by the pilot, Capt John Goss, that Ryanair was in contempt of an earlier court order for not restoring him to flying duties. Capt Goss brought an application for the attachment and committal to prison of Mr O'Leary and others, and seeks an order for sequestration of Ryanair assets.

Capt Goss had been reinstated to his duties after a court order from April 27.
