Colombia Three: 9 out of 10 say 'lock them up'

SOME 86 per cent believe the Colombia Three should serve their 17-year sentences for terrorism offences handed down by the Colombian courts,according to a nationwide telephone poll carried outyesterday for the SundayIndependent. But the public are evenly divided on whether these men should be returned to Colombia (43 per cent) or serve their sentences in an Irish prison

SOME 86 per cent believe the Colombia Three should serve their 17-year sentences for terrorism offences handed down by the Colombian courts,according to a nationwide telephone poll carried outyesterday for the SundayIndependent. But the public are evenly divided on whether these men should be returned to Colombia (43 per cent) or serve their sentences in an Irish prison (43 per cent). Other findings: 75 per cent are dissatisfied with the Government's handling of the affair; 95 per cent feel gardai should question them on false passport allegations; 73 per cent say Gerry Adams should help the gardai find them; 56 per cent don't believe the Government did a deal with Sinn Fein or the IRA on the return of the Three.
