Cabinet's climate credentials to be aired
Tuesday October 14 2008
A LANDMARK ruling could compel the Government to break Cabinet confidentiality in the specific areas of emissions and global warming.
The decision, being studied by the Government, overturns the existing legal blanket of Cabinet confidentiality, and allows limited Cabinet documents to be released under the Freedom of Information Act.
A Green party election candidate says he will now upload to the internet papers that relate to ministerial discussions on climate change. Gary Fitzgerald says he will put the material on his website as soon as he receives it. The Government has been told to hand the material over following a ruling by Information Commissioner Emily O'Reilly.
