Bond faces biggest battle -- with Hawaiian pensioner

By Julian Brouwer

Saturday January 12 2008

PIERCE Brosnan faced some tough adversaries in the James Bond movies -- but his latest opponent is a Hawaiian pensioner who claims he ruined her vegetable crop.

Brosnan (pictured right), originally from Co Meath, faces a legal battle after accusations that he has diverted water from the farm of Cathy Ham Young, a neighbour of Brosnan's on Pacific island of Kauai.

"Pierce Brosnan stole my water," said the 77-year-old, who plans to haul Brosnan (54) into court.

She says that Brosnan refuses to have a ditch near his home, and claims that by the time the water gets to her farm, it is polluted.

Ironically, last year Brosnan said he planned to spend six months in Hawaii relaxing.

Instead, he is locked in a battle of wills with his neighbour who claims: "He said he understood my problem and would restore my water. "But he never actually does anything. A judge told him to just put the ditch back. But he didn't."

However, Brosnan's lawyer said: "The water goes through five different properties and it's not Pierce's problem."
