Birds of a feather hatch together at emu farm

Monday March 24 2008

EASTER may have come early this year, but so too did three baby emus, who were born just in time for the festivities.

Little Edel, Eugene and Elsie were born on Good Friday, to proud parents Emily and Eric, at Stonehall visitor farm, in Kilcornan, Co Limerick.

This is the third Easter in a row that Emily has produced baby emus just in time for the celebrations.

"It's amazing that our latest baby emus the were born in time," said Sinead Shanahan, of Stonehall Farm.

Opened in 2001, Stonehall is also home to snowy owls, Alpaca birds, parrots, deers, ostriches, and pot-bellied pigs, snakes, lizards, and iguanas.

The farm is open today, Easter Monday, from 12pm to 6pm.

Our picture, from Press 22, shows Kate Shanahan, co-owner of the farm, with the three baby emus.
