Angry scenes in court as two charged with Daniel McAnaspie murder

Friday December 16 2011

ANGRY scenes erupted in court today after two young men were charged with the murder of teenager Daniel McAnaspie.

Trevor Noone, 23, and Richard Dekker, 25, with an address at Whitestown Avenue, Mulhuddart, Co Dublin, were brought before Blanchardstown District Court.

Garda Patrick McDonagh told the court that when charged today, Noone replied: "No."

Noone, dressed in a grey sweater, dark trousers and white shoes, was remanded in custody to appear again before Cloverhill courthouse on December 21.

Sergeant Daniel Callaghan said he arrested Dekker last night at his address before taking him to Blanchardstown Garda station.

When charged, the defendant made no response, Sgt Callaghan told the court.

Dekker was also remanded in custody to appear again before Cloverhill courthouse on December 21.

Free legal aid was granted to both men.

As Dekker was led away, dressed in a blue and white tracksuit and runners, a group of youths began shouting at him.

Court officials had to call for order amid jeers of "knacker", "scumbag" and "we'll get you".

The body of 17-year-old Daniel McAnaspie was found in a field in Co Meath in May 2010, three months after he went missing while in state care.

A post mortem found he had been stabbed to death.
