Aer Lingus cabin crew action will not disrupt schedules
AER Lingus flights will be safe from disruption during industrial action in two weeks.
Cabin crew will begin a work-to-rule on Wednesday week after accusing the airline's management of imposing gruelling new rosters.
They will work strictly within the terms of their contracts after voting by an overwhelming 96pc majority in favour of industrial action. The ballot had a 67pc turnout.
However, the IMPACT union representing cabin crew said the industrial action from August 25 will not affect flights in or out of the country.
It also said its members will not be on strike.
The union said they will only strike if management takes disciplinary action against any members.
Aer Lingus has reassured passengers that even in this event, there will be no disruption to flights suggesting it has contingency plans in place.
It previously threatened to sack staff who did not agree to its €97m cost-cutting plan, which includes an increase in the cabin crew's flying hours to 850 a year.
The cabin crew have accepted the increase to 850 hours, but object to the rosters that management drew up to achieve it.
They claim the rosters mean longer shifts with no breaks and 60 hours' work over seven days.
