A new voice for disadvantaged community

A SUBURB located in the heart of the country's largest regeneration project has acquired a new voice for its residents.
The first edition of the 'Moyross Voice' rolled off the printing presses yesterday in Limerick.
The 16-page newspaper is produced by journalism students from the University of Limerick (UL) to serve the community of Moyross. It is the first on-campus newspaper created by third-level Irish students for a disadvantaged community.
Speaking at the launch of the 'Moyross Voice', the president of UL, Prof Don Barry, said the project is one of many the university is undertaking in its efforts to reach out to disadvantaged communities in Limerick.
"We hope the community of Moyross will benefit from producing this paper and gaining insights into their interaction with the media, while our students have equally benefited from the experience of publishing it," Mr Barry said.
