€4 ticket wins €9.4m Lottery jackpot

Thursday October 08 2009

THE recession is over for someone after the massive €9.4m Lotto jackpot was won by one lucky player in the south last night.

The top prize has been rolling since September 12 with no jackpot winner for the last seven draws.

However, that drought of winners came to an end last night with the winner set to collect a cool €9,461,894.

The winning numbers were 9, 13, 16, 17, 18, 32 and the bonus was 42.

A Lotto spokeswoman said that they could only confirm that the winning ticket was sold in the south of the country. The winning ticket was a €4 Quick Pick.

There were no winners in either the Lotto Plus 1 or the Lotto Plus 2 draws. The numbers drawn in the Lotto Plus 1 competition were 12, 15, 23, 24, 26, 37 and the bonus was 35.

The numbers drawn in the Lotto Plus 2 draw were 5, 12, 21, 25, 30, 41 and the bonus was 26.

Meanwhile, a woman who went into shock after picking the winning numbers in last Friday’s ‘EuroMillions Plus’ draw celebrated her good fortune yesterday after picking up a cheque for €500,000.

The Meath woman, who remained anonymous, said she couldn’t believe her eyes when she checked her ticket.

The regular EuroMillions player bought the lucky €6 ‘Quick Pick’ ticket at Dempsey’s Maxol station in Ballivor, Co Meath. She said:

“I was in shock. I started shaking and crying. I didn’t know what to do with myself. It’s amazing how your whole life changes.”
