€16m Lotto ticket was sold in the south

Sunday July 29 2007

SARAH MURPHY

THERE was one winner of last night's €16,185,749 Lotto jackpot - the highest prize offered since the draw began 19 years ago.

The lucky ticket was bought somewhere in counties Cork, Kerry or Tipperary.

The search for the lucky ticket will now begin in earnest and the winner - or winners - will have to decide if they will go public over their win. The National Lottery said last night that the exact location of where the winning ticket was sold will only become known later today.

The numbers drawn were 13, 37, 4, 35, 32, 29 and the bonus number was 20.

There were four Match 5+bonus winners who each receive €25,000; 206 Match 5 winners each win €1,627; 516 Match 4+bonus winners each receive €163; 9,378 Match 4 winners get €55 each; 12,972 Match 3+bonus winners get €27 each and 156,660 Match 3 winners can console themselves with €5 each.

The numbers in the Lotto Plus Draw 1 were 40, 14, 38, 35, 6, 21 (bonus 32). The Lotto Plus Draw 2 numbers were 14, 6, 9, 26, 30, 31 (bonus 37).

Over two million tickets were sold for last night's Lotto. The victory underlines the lucky nature of the south, coming almost exactly two years since Limerick woman Dolores McNamara, won €115m in the Euromillions on July 31, 2005.

Meanwhile, in the UK draw for stg£4.5m, the winning numbers were 27, 22, 04, 18, 48, 44 (bonus 33).
