IRELAND’S next generation of Dragon’s Den-style entrepreneurs are being sought by government with the incentive of €15k in funding for successful applicants.

Minister for Research and Innovation, Sean Sherlock, was today launching a new entrepreneur recruitment campaign.

The plan is to generate employment through teaching individuals the skills to run their own successful companies with the hope that they will generate growth and employment.

A six month intensive course in business called "New Frontiers" will be rolled out in 13 Institutes of Technology and is being funded by Enterprise Ireland.

The course, outlined in the Government's "Action Plan for Jobs", focuses on giving individuals the entrepreneurial skills needed to set up and run a business.

The first phase of the programme will accept 250 applicants and will test their ideas and potential as entrepreneurs.

These candidates will then be reduced in number to 150 who will qualify for the six-month core element of the course.

Successful candidates will receive €15,000 from Enterprise Ireland as they focus their efforts on developing a sustainable business.
