- Try stores specialising in outdoor wear, fishing and hunting. Ask for jackets that have a 'poacher pocket' or brands such as Regatta and Crosshatch that have several pockets.
- If you're a fisher, you might have a fishing jacket. They're bulky, but vests like Zebco's fishing waistcoat have a lot of deep pockets.
- Don't rule out the fashion stores for a less hardcore take on pocket packing. Military-style jackets, parkas and casual bombers will also give you some extra storage.
- Debenhams in Ireland say sales of their John Rocha navy blue parka (€60), which has six pockets, have shot up by 350% as travellers cram their pockets. Also try their Mantaray bomber jacket for men (five pockets, €78) or Marks & Spencer's men's Northcoast Mole jacket with four pockets for €95.
- Don't forget to look in your wardrobe -- you might find you already have a jacket with a few decent pockets you could stuff.
