OK, it may seem like we're just barely over the trauma of Christmas shopping, but the thinking man is already planning for Valentine's Day -- a day that offers the most potential for gifting dross. Avoid all the tatty, cheap underwear and sexually suggestive rubbish you might be thinking of foisting on your loved one -- unless it's by Myla or La Perla, most women prefer to buy their own underwear. Stonechat Jewellers, in the Westbury Mall, has come up with the genius idea of providing an upcycling service for customers. You can bring old pieces in and, using either your gemstones or the metal, or both, they'll design something new. The workshop and consultation area are in store, so the process is very interactive. For any future brides reading, Stonechat also do bespoke pieces, such as the Stockholm gold-and-diamond ring set, left, €3,990 (for the set). Apart from owner Ann Chapman's own line, other designers stocked include Michael O'Dwyer, Helena Malone, McCaul Goldsmiths, Marion Woodburn and Jessica Poole.
