The secrets of JFK's sex life by the teen intern he seduced
John Costello
All The President's Men may have defined Nixon's time in the White House, but when it comes to John F Kennedy's term in the Oval Office, it's more a case of All The President's Women.
Former White House intern Mimi Alford has now joined the long line of presidential conquests to reveal how she felt powerless to resist JFK's sexual advances.
After keeping schtum for decades, Alford has decided to reveal how Kennedy stole "her virginity" in his wife's bed during the summer of 1962 in her kiss-and-tell memoir Once Upon a Secret: My Affair with President John F Kennedy and Its Aftermath published this week.
The 19-year-old debutante from New Jersey was just four days into her internship in the White House press office, when she was invited to an after-work party by Dave Powers, one of Kennedy's friends. While her co-workers were sipping cocktails, she was being led by JFK down the hall to his wife's bedroom where they had sex for the first time.
The 69-year-old grandmother, who went to the same school as JFK's wife Jackie, describes Kennedy in her book as "seductive and playful" saying the sex was "fun".
However, the seedier side of JFK's sexual appetite is revealed in detail in the book including how he asked her to "take care" of his friend Dave Powers while they were lounging around the White House pool.
"It was a dare, but I knew exactly what he meant," she writes. "This was a challenge to give Dave Powers oral sex. I don't think the president thought I'd do it, but I did... The president silently watched."
Even though Miss Alford was engaged, she continued her affair with the president until November 15, 1963. This would be the last time she would see JFK.
"He took me in his arms for a long embrace and said, 'I wish you were coming with me to Texas'," recounts Alford. "He said: 'I'll call you when I get back.' I was overcome with sadness. 'Remember, Mr President, I'm getting married.' 'I know,' he said, and shrugged. 'I'll call you anyway'." One week later JFK was assassinated in Dallas.
