I told you Dublin is turning into a boomtown. King Rat himself Bob Geldof and his mate, former Eurythmics star Dave Stewart were in town last weekend. The reformed reprobrates dined on Saturday in Cafe Bar H on Hanover Quay (or Hangover Quay as I like to call it).
Proud proprietor of Cafe Bar H, Harry Crosbie could have taught Bob 'n' Dave a thing or two about musicianship back in the day. As a teenager he used to play in a skiffle group in Tipperary with his friend Fran O'Toole, who went on to be in the Miami Showband. Harry was honoured by Rockwell College as Student Of The Year at an event in the Conrad Hilton where he recounted his glory days with fellow pupil Fran and the washboard in the local venue The Asylum (as I like to call my office).
Doubtless Harry is available to pick up the washboard again should his pal – and a regular diner in Café H Bar – Bono need it on U2's hour of need on the new album.
