TWO handwritten envelopes from the White House landed in Moneygall yesterday, writes Eimear Ni Bhraonain.
The invitations were delivered to the home of US President Barack Obama's distant cousin, Henry Healy, and his uncle, publican Ollie Hayes.
The pair have been asked to join Mr Obama and his wife Michelle, who visited the Co Offaly village last May, for a reception "in honour of St Patrick's Day" in the White House in Washington on March 20.
Mr Healy had been told to expect the invite in the post. However, he was in for a "nice surprise" when he discovered he could also bring a guest to the reception. The 27-year-old has asked his mum, Marian, to accompany him on the trip.
