Motorists stuck in traffic hear more pleasant type of horns

Members of the Acadiana High School Band from Louisiana, USA, play to Limerick motorists
MOTORISTS and commuters stuck in the morning rush hour traffic were treated to the pleasant surprise of an American high school band entertaining them.
The Acadiana High School Band from Lafayette, Louisiana, gave the impromptu performance at Steamboat Quay in Limerick yesterday morning.
The group had been scheduled to perform in Limerick's international band parade on Sunday but never made it in time after weather-related delays.
On their first flight, the band were diverted from Newark to Virginia due to turbulence just as they were about to land.
Upon finally touching down at Newark airport, the musicians discovered they had missed their Shannon connection. Hours later the 77 members flew to Belfast before taking a lengthy bus journey to Limerick.
However, their instruments and luggage did not arrive until late on Monday night.
Tour organiser with Atlantic Group Tours, Eamon Howley, said the high school band were keen to get some practice in ahead of today's festivities in Dublin.
"They really wanted to play in Limerick and did so for people driving to and making their way to work yesterday morning. They got a great response from everyone who came across them," Mr Howley said.
