Price drops continue
Sales activity continued to increase relative to last April and while this is certainly an encouraging sign, it is not at the same pace as experienced during the first four months of the year.

Dublin
Price Guide: Dublin City Centre
A decline of 10pc in average second-hand prices since last April is seen as a fair reflection of recent trends in Dublin City Centre.
Mid East
Price Guide: Meath
Overall average prices for new and second-hand homes in Meath are down from peak levels by 39pc and 44pc respectively.
Midlands
Price Guide: Laois
Laois is home to some of the most affordable property in the country, with the average price of a new home estimated at just €149,900 and the price of a second-hand home at €152,600.
Mid West
Price Guide: Clare
Contrasting price levels are seen in various segments of the Clare housing market. New semidetached house prices were higher at the end of August this year compared to April with new three-and-four-bedrooms up 5pc and 10pc respectively.
South West
Price Guide: Cork City
There has been little change to the average property prices in Cork city since last April, with a marginal upward movement in the overall average for both new and second-hand properties during this period, although both are still more than one-quarter off their peak price level.
South East
Price Guide: Carlow
Apartment prices in Carlow have now fallen by between 46pc and 52pc from peak levels. This is despite the fact that the average price for new one- and two-bedroom apartments were estimated at being above the April figures.
West
Price Guide: Galway City
Four-bedroom detached houses are the market segment that have suffered the biggest price falls from peak in percentage terms in Galway City. Both new and second-hand four-bedroom detached dropped 47pc. New two-bedroom apartments and townhouses have also fallen by a somewhat similar level from peak values.
Border counties
Price Guide: Cavan
Some of the keenest prices in the country can be found in Co Cavan, where both new and second- hand three-bedroom semi-detached homes are cheaper than anywhere else, while two-bedroom apartments are third cheapest.
