AN article in the Sunday Independent, October 27, regarding the proposed sale of Violet Hill, Bray, Co Wicklow, entitled 'For your eyes only: Inside the secret Irish lair of James Bond', contained a number of inaccuracies.
It has been pointed out to us that Mr Sean Connery never owned the property. It was also pointed out that, in fact, Ms Carmel Crawford bought Violet Hill and its entire contents in 1984 from the Darley family who had owned the property since it was built in the 19th Century. Ms Crawford sold the property in 1988 and a public auction of the entire contents was conducted by Thomas Adams, auctioneers.
We are happy to clarify these matters.
