Puppy love saves dogs left to die

Vet Richard Hurley of Hurley's Veterinary Hospital in Tralee, Co Kerry, with the litter of rescued pups
A LITTER of adorable puppies was cruelly dumped in a box and left to die on one of the coldest nights of the year.
But thanks to the kindness of a passing stranger, the seven-week-old collie-cross puppies were rescued and are now ready to be adopted.
Jean Campbell of Animal Help Net in Tralee, Co Kerry, said the puppies owed their lives to a tourist who was out walking along an isolated footpath near the Riverwalk housing estate in Oakview, Tralee, last Wednesday and found the litter of six -- three males and three females -- huddled together in a fish box.
The animal rescue volunteers brought them to the surgery of local vet Richard Hurley. "I'm just amazed that someone would rear them this far and then do this," he told the Irish Independent last night.
Anyone wishing to adopt the puppies can do so by contacting Hurley's Veterinary Hospital on 066 712 9760 or Animal Help Net on 066 712 1779.
