THIS is the ultimate race car for the road – but it will cost you a million. McLaren have released final details of their F1 hybrid ahead of next week's Geneva Motor Show. And they are astonishing.
The combined power (903bh) of the 727bhp 3.8-litre twin-turbo petrol V8 and 176bhp electric motor through a 7spd twin-clutch gearbox catapults this from a standing start to 100kmh in less than three seconds.
It also goes from a standing start to 300kmh in under 17 seconds.
According to the experts that is 23pc faster than the legendary McLaren F1. And top speed is electronically limited to 350kmh.
The price will be £866,000 (almost €1m) and they are only going to make 375 of them.
Engineers at McLaren have been in discussions with potential buyers and they (the buyers) don't want the look of the car changed from what appeared at the Paris Motor Show in September.
Away from the mad performance figures, the P1 can call on the electric motor, which is claimed to give it decent drive on its own. It can travel up to 20km on its own at traffic speeds.
Got a million?
