Signs that sport is past the recession

Wednesday January 25 2012

THERE are further indications that Irish motorsport is moving on from the recession as news emerges that entries have topped 170 ahead of the Tarmac Series opener, which is in the Safety Direct Galway Rally on this coming Saturday.

The trend of dwindling entries is reversing after several years of falling support for the once great series, which is now rivalled by the Dunlop National Championship for premier status in Irish rallying.

Gareth MacHale will wheel out his well sorted Ford Focus WRC for the event where he will face stiff competition from Tarmac legend Eugene Donnelly, the latter making his comeback with the Colm Quinn supported McGeehan Motorsport Mini WRC.
