SIMON Cowell admitted he was bursting with pride as he posted the first pictures of son Eric on Twitter.
The black and white shots show the millionaire music mogul cradling the little boy and patting his head as American girlfriend Lauren Silverman caresses the child's with the back of her hand.
Cowell (54) wrote with the snaps: "Mum, Dad and Eric. Now two days old. I never knew how much love and pride I would feel. . . now you can see how very handsome little Eric is."
Eric, named after the late father Cowell described as a "brilliant mentor", was born in New York on Valentine's Day at 5.45pm, weighing 6lb 7oz.
His arrival forced the X Factor supremo to ditch auditions for Britain's Got Talent so he could fly to the States to be there for the birth.
Lauren (36) and the creator of Pop Idol and the X Factor spent the day in a luxury suite in a hospital in Manhattan.
And Simon was said to have wept at the birth, telling Lauren: "This is the happiest day of my life."
Her father Steve, and her stepmother Rosy Davis, have both been to visit the new arrival.
And family members have been lavishing praise on the boy. Lauren's sister Nicole Davis said: "He's beautiful."
The first person Simon called was his mother Julie Brett (87), who was said to be deeply touched that he had called his dad a mentor.
Simon's father died of a heart attack aged 81 in 1991, just as Cowell was celebrating the first number one single with Westlife.
His son's middle name is Philip, just like his dad and also in honour of his tycoon friend Sir Philip Green, owner of Topshop.
It is reported that the X Factor creator ordered a hamburger and a Corona lager to celebrate the baby's arrival before he left the hospital in the early hours of the morning.
A source close to Simon said that he was "completely besotted." "He is such proud dad and they (the couple) are completely obsessed," the friend added.
The talent show businessman is estimated to be worth about $400m (€290m).
