"It was very much my suggestion to work from home.
"The company was trying to hire me since October and I started in May on the proviso that I could do some of my work from home as I have two children, aged 11 and 6. I like the mix -- sometimes it is good to be in the office in Enniscorthy for feedback. It stops you feeling like you're up in an ivory tower.
"I have a little home office: I look out the window at the mountains and if I crick my neck a bit, I can see the sea. It's wonderful to be able to get back that hour of the day you would spend commuting -- this morning, I ran down to the sea for a quick swim at five past eight before getting down to work.
"I don't think I'll ever work in an office full-time again. About eight years ago, I was made redundant in the dotcom fallout and I made a decision then that I wasn't going back to the way of working I had then. Working remotely was traditionally only in IT and design but you're starting to see it in more areas, from sales to marketing, in the financial sector.
"I don't think you'll ever be hired as an unknown and be allowed to work from home. There has to be a trust there."
