IT'S been a well-kept secret for too long, but funky fashion label Lipsy is finally coming into its own, as these pictures from the launch of its spring collection show.

Held in the ultra-modern surroundings of the new Radisson Hotel in Dublin 8, the showing of the label's spring line was an explosion of colourful silk.

The glamorous London-based label favoured by celebrities in the UK has long been a favourite of high-profile, low-maintenance fashionistas on the red carpet.

Now their designs are over here for all to enjoy.

Among the models showing off the new collection were Baiba Gaile , former Miss Irelands Sarah Morrissey and Aoife Cogan and former Miss World Rosanna Davison.

They chose a romantic after-eight look with hair up and shoulders back, thanks to the talent of hairdresser Stephen Kelly of Zeba.

Baiba and Sarah modelled a selection of beautiful dip-dyed effect silk dresses, echoing a key spring trend as shown on the international catwalks by Matthew Williamson, Etro and Diane Von Furstenburg.

Sarah Morrissey, with her feline looks, wore a striking pink and mocha toned dip-dye dress with elaborate gold beading and sequined detailing on the back.

Baiba turned heads as she took to the catwalk wearing a fuchsia, grey and purple silk dress with a soft ruffled neckline and wispy hem.

Aoife Cogan made an impact in a silk flower baby-doll dress with fabric that recalled a Seventies print scarf.

A whiff of flower power was certainly in the air, as florals are shooting up and blossoming along the fashion rails this season.

Graphics are finally taking a break from the catwalk.

The simple cottage flower tea dresses are wearable for daywear, while at night there are glamorous black and pink chiffon rose-pattern evening dresses A striking oyster silk dress with a black lace rose epitomised springtime simplicity. It also came with feminine ruched sleeves and a sweet heart neckline.

This was followed by a baby-pink silk chiffon tea dress with covered button detailing, and a pale pink and mocha frilled silk sundress.

The finale piece was worn by Baiba, who swanned out in a lilac frilled hem dress with striking tieback detail.

The theme of the night was pink and black, in keeping with Lipsy's signature colour scheme.

The room was festooned with giant black vases piled high with stunning balls made of pink roses, by Eamon Grant.

Pictured right and above are Baiba and Rosanna in some of the latest Lipsy creations.
