Kate Hudson "laughed [her] ass off" with Stella McCartney when her designer Oscars dress received negative press.
The Hollywood actress was speaking at the British Fashion Awards (BFAs) last night, where Stella picked up the Red Carpet of the Year award.
Kate says although Stella may have won one of the most coveted fashion honours at the event, she doesn’t always get it right.
"Stella dressed me for my first red carpet event in 2001 for the Academy Awards. It was my first and only nomination. I was 21 years old and to have Stella McCartney dressing me - well I felt like the hippest, coolest girl in the world,” she recalled in an interview with Vogue.co.uk.
“Up until the last minute Stella was working away, hand-sewing the hem. I woke up the next morning in my bed post-awards and without a little statuette. I turned on the television to find out I was on every Worst Dressed list possible. So I called Stella and we just laughed our asses off and she said to me, ‘Look babe, it was the hair wasn't it?’”
Despite the dress not getting rave reviews, Kate still has a soft spot for the gown. The stunning star isn’t prepared for it not be worn another time.
"To this day that now vintage dress hangs in my wardrobe, but I swear one day I'll wear it again," she laughed.
