Karl Lagerfeld’s pre-fall Chanel collection, which will debut on December 6, is inspired by India.

The designer is the creative director of the French fashion house. He will be presenting the latest Chanel Métiers d’Art collection on December 6 at the Galerie Courbe in the Grand Palais.

“Karl Lagerfeld plans to take the fashion flock on an imaginary trip to India with his next Métiers d’Art collection for Chanel,” reports WWD.

The line is described as being a fusion of Bombay and Paris by the fashion publication. It will likely include the tight tailoring Chanel is renowned for, with splashes of colour expected.

It is known that the designer has already called on some couture ateliers to add embellishments to the pieces.

There will be two shows presented, with the backdrop expected to be as lavish as usual.

Lagerfeld is renowned for coming up with breathtaking staging for his shows. Previous Chanel catwalk displays have taken place on a giant iceberg lookalike while the recent Spring/Summer 12 display was inspired by the ocean.

The set looked as if it had been lifted from beneath the sea, with pieces of coral and seashells all apparent.
