Beauty tips: what's hot

THE clock has gone forward and it’s now officially springtime, so what better excuse to revamp your cosmetic bag?
It only takes a few artfully chosen tools to mimic the bright, pretty look so prevalent this season.
Take Estee Lauder’s Stay The Day eyeshadows (€20), which are available in a gorgeous range of shades from Pink Blush to Sea Mist. They come in a lovely creamy texture, and live up to their billing, lasting up to 15 hours after you’ve applied them. If you suffer from redness on your eyelids (which can make you appear tired, even after eight hours of sleep), then I’d definitely recommend Ivory Lace, for creating that wide-awake and ready for anything vibe.
Get that rosy glow with Clinique’s On time Quick Blush (€32). It’s a nifty little device – a blush with a built-in brush! So no more digging in your handbag looking for a compact and brush.
Just twist the cylinder base clockwise and the brush automatically picks up a precise amount of powder that’s cunningly hidden in the cap. The blush contains film-forming polymers, and gives the faintest trace of colour on your cheeks.
It comes in five shades – Peach In-A-Pinch, Minute Mocha, Pronto Pink, In-A-Rush Blush, Berry on Time – but our favourite is the sweetly named Hurry Honey. Heavy foundation is a
definite no-no at this time of the year. And the thing is, you really don’t need to cake your
skin in cosmetics no matter what the season. If you’re still not convinced, then check out Clarins Instant Smooth Foundation (€35.16), which is a fantastic combination of its Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch primer with foundation all in a mousse formula.
Sounds too good to be true? Well, it’s not perfect, it is definitely messy to apply, but it does give a lovely, sheer finish, leaving your skin looking smooth and even, and possibly even a touch airbrushed.
You can take it all off with L’Occitaine’s cleansing milk (€21.50) from its new Olive Organic Face Care Range, which is certified by Eco Cert. Its list of ingredients sound like a recipe – organic olive tree leaf extract, organic olive water, organic olive oil, organic sweet almond oil and macadamia oil. It lifts away impurities, soothes your skin and leaves it soft and supple.
You should apply it to your face and neck with circular movements, and remove with a cotton pad, preferably one from Demak’Up Feel Pure range (€2.84). These have a smooth side made from 100pc cotton, to remove make-up perfectly, and an exfoliating side with tiny natural luffa fibres, which remove dead skin cells for a thorough and gentle cleanse.
