MTV Europe Music Award in Berlin: Katy Perry's crazy outfits

Katy Perry went through a dozen eye-popping costume changes – some of them downright bizarre - as the host of the MTV Europe Music Awards in Berlin.
The singer and girlfriend of Russell Brand began her evening by appearing on the red carpet in an elegant evening gown.
She opened the show with an homage to Liza Minnelli in Cabaret, transforming the stage into the ‘Katy Kat Club’ and performing a routine in a bowler hat, waistcoat, thigh high boots and knickers emblazoned with a silver heart. She sang a medley of other people’s songs, including Poker Face by Lady GaGa.
It was the second year that Perry hosted the awards ceremony. “Last year I popped my MTV cherry but this time I’m more experienced, if you know what I mean,” she winked.
She returned in a pink marabou feather jacket, and pink and black corset, perched in a giant cocktail glass in the style of Dita von Teese.
Her most unusual look was a bright pink strapless prom dress with holes cut out of it, and the most outrageous was a nude top with a conical bra decorated with ‘nipples’.
At other points in the evening she wore a turquoise rubber bikini, midnight blue flapper dress, lace corset with pearls and purple underwear with pale blue trim.
At last year’s MTV Awards she straddled a giant cherry chapstick. This time her props included an enormous glittery stiletto, a swing and a crescent moon suspended high above the stage.
Before the ceremony, Perry promised: “I’m going to highlight what God gave me – what my momma made – with lots of booby things. There will be a lot of costumes but fewer clothes.”
