Dressing 007 fan to thrill

'My boyfriend is obsessed with the new James Bond film Quantum of Solace. Needless to say, he has pre-booked tickets for tonight's showing weeks in advance. Now he's asked me to help him shop for some suitable Bond-style clobber -- any suggestions about where to look and what to get?'
James Bond's style has always been suave, seductive (think of those tiny blue La Perla swimming trunks from Casino Royale!) and, above all, classic.
For Quantum of Solace, Daniel Craig had bespoke suits made by former Gucci head designer Tom Ford.
It is rumoured that Craig went through 40 custom-made suits during the making of the film, causing Craig to comment to the press on their demise, "It really is a crime. It makes me weep every time. They're great suits." Ford doesn't do a pret à porter range, but if you have cash to flash D&G's navy organza-covered tux jacket, €2,430 from Brown Thomas, Dublin, is a stunning piece that will give your other half the licence to thrill!
Hackett's, on South Anne Street, is another good port of call for Bond-style pieces. This quintessential British store is one part Saville Row, one part Ralph Lauren. Pick up a beautifully tailored black two-piece suit for €790 -- a true Bond staple, just add a white shirt.
Hackett's Mayfair three-piece dogtooth-check suit, €1,050, is another good choice.
Accessories are a key for the espionage pin-up boy look. Debenhams do a great jet-set style holdall, €232 by John Rocha.
For those who can't afford the Omega Seamaster watch worn by Bond costing €2,495, French Connection do a spin-off for €200, which will give your boyfriend the secret-service sugar hit he craves.
Finally, brogues are the must-have footwear for Bond fans. Dune's 'Alastair' style, at €105, ticks all the style boxes.
For the final touch, add a splash of Floris No 89 -- Ian Fleming and Bond's preferred fragrance, www.florislondon.com.
