Waters lands himself a sexy senator

THERE are some relationships that just fill your heart with joy and that you hope will just run and run. Take John Waters and Senator Maria Corrigan. The sex symbol of Irish literature and the sex symbol of the upper house -- now that's something that will lift the doom and gloom.
The pair went public, or were spotted in public, in the Shelbourne on Monday afternoon. Later, they continued their tryst at the first exhibition to be held in the re-opened Royal Hibernian Academy on Ely Place.
Sinead O'Connor's ex (a lot of bridges under Waters since then), Roscommon's answer to Baudelaire, is one of the most fanciable men in Ireland (relax, I have this from my women friends). Mystifyingly, this is his first romance for a while.
Senator Corrigan, as Joe Burke's ex, is no stranger to controversy. Although I have to say, Joe is emerging as the only truly likeable member of the Drumcondra Mafia, if the documentary Bertie is anything to go by. But then, maybe that's a big "if".
More importantly, another Senator -- Eoghan Harris -- says Maria is a great woman, and not to be underestimated. And clearly, Waters is not underestimating her. (Nor is anyone these days: the sexy senator, sources in FF tell me, is the favourite candidate for the late Seamus Brennan's seat.)
A source close to the couple tell me that the relationship is in its first bloom, but they are happy together.
So, John and Maria are Dublin's hot item -- the Rosanna and Wes of the political chattering classes.
