Twilight's Robert Pattison 'really embarrassed' by shirtless scene in New Moon

Heartthrob: Robert Pattinson, Twilight's undead hero

Robert Pattinson said his shirtless scene in Twilight sequel New Moon was "really embarrassing" to film as he feels like a wimp in comparison to co-star Taylor Lautner.

Lautner packed on 30lbs to play Jacob Black in the film, which is released next week.

Pattinson, who stars as vampire Edward Cullen, said he was weedy by comparison and cringed when the director asked him to strip off.

"It's really embarrassing, especially when Taylor has a fourteen-pack or something," he told Heat magazine.

Kristen Stewart, who plays heroine Bella Swan, said she was amazed by Lautner's new look, whch he has achieved through intensive weight training.

She said: "He's an entirely different person physically. It took him so much time. He's so devoted. The cool thing, though, is that it's not just physical. You can read it all over him, just in his attitude.

"The difference between the kid that did Twilight and the guy now is pretty astounding. He even did a lot of his own stunts. He catapulted himself into a window - that was really impressive."

Twilight fans are divided into 'Team Edward' and 'Team Jacob' camps, and Lautner said his fanbase included a lot of older women. "I've had women in their 40s come up to me and ask if I can sign their underwear. The moms are crazier than the daughters."

Pattinson made his name as Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter films and said he could take tips from Daniel Radcliffe on coping with the pressures of fame. "I'd quite like to talk to him about it. He has a very good method for coping with it all - well, from what I can see anyway. It seems like he stays completely grounded all the time."
