TINA Turner, who recently played in Dublin, has been named the Sexiest Frontwoman in Rock History, by the editors of the online magazine Nerve.
Nerve magazine this week confirmed what every Irish Turner fan has been saying since her recent visit - that she is the unrivalled Top of the Rockers.
Ms Turner (69) topped the poll which also featured 80s icons Debbie Harry (2nd), Stevie Nicks (13th) and Annie Lennox (15th).
The online music and arts magazine, based in the US, says Tina made the top spot because of her super voice and great style. "Take one golden klaxon of a voice, slap on the two most ironclad gams in show biz, and what do you get? The most slamming septuagenarian in rock history. Truly the original Bionic Woman, Ms. Turner has sold two-hundred-million records and more tickets than any another solo star".
It adds: "The rules of Thunderdome are simple, but the rules of being The Queen of Rock and Roll are even simpler: be the freaking best."
Pretenders to her throne include Gwen Stefani (10th), Regina Spektor (34th) and Santi White of Santigold (27th).
The poll is a good mix of rock veterans like Chrissie Hynde (8th), Siouxsie Sioux (35th) and Joan Jett (5th), with a fair share of young chicks, like Beth Ditto (39th) and Bjork (11th).
The full top ten, as voted by trendy Nerve editors, is: 10. Gwen Stefani, 9. Nico, 8. Chrissie Hynde, 7. PJ Harvey, 6. Nina Hagen, 5. Joan Jett, 4. Liz Phair, 3. Kathleen Hanna, 2. Debbie Harry, 1. Tina Turner.
