Time to get our dancing shoes on

THE chattering classes were out and about as January drew to a teeth-chattering close. Bono's BF Simon Carmody was in Robbie Fox's latest venture, the Bel & Bellucci Italian restaurant in Ballsbridge, last weekend with a mystery blonde. And no -- it wasn't Guggi.
Another blonde, this time not so mysterious -- Alison Doody -- was in Gill Ronan's Town Bar & Grill on Kildare Street last week. The fabulously attractive former Bond girl was dining with a friend. Alison, an accomplished actress, is jetting to South Africa soon for filming. One-time Riverdance star Jean Butler was also there the following night -- in Town B&G, not South Africa, sillies.
I met John McColgan, the genius/ director/ producer John McColgan who along with his fragrant wife Moya, was responsible for Riverdance, in Residence last Wednesday night.
John was with his little brother Gerry and a big gang, and they were clearly celebrating. I joined their party 'til closing time. Impresario John, who is always charming, told me that he was off to New York for business and he was up to his eyes with new projects. No better man.
A different man, who told me he had just sold his company for €40m, was offering to buy everyone shots. The recession, I feel, is ending. Am I right or am I right?
