Sugar and ice and all things nice -- it's Dara's 40th birthday surprise
Saturday Feb 11 2012
Comedian Dara O Briain celebrated his 40th birthday with a bash for pals in west London last Sunday night.
Jimmy Carr arrived and politely asked if his pal chef Heston Blumenthal could "gatecrash" the party, which was held in Chiswick, near Dara's home.
Andrew Maxwell, Ed Byrne, Des Bishop, and Dara's best pal Deirdre O'Kane, were among the Irish comics present.
All were taken by Dara's wife Susan's choice of birthday cake: a pyramid of cupcakes, each one featuring Dara's face.
"It was the funniest thing I have ever seen," one guest told The Diary.
After 15 nights in Vicar Street, the Bray man was allowed a blow-out with the drink flowing into the early hours.
The next day, Dara tweeted: "Wow. I cannot recall the last time I had a full night's sleep and STILL woke up drunk. Back to bed would seem the best plan."
