Paltrow joins Kidman in Danish Girl

Monday November 09 2009

Gwyneth Paltrow has signed up to star alongside Nicole Kidman in The Danish Girl.

The film, which sees Let The Right One In director Tomas Alfredson at the helm, tells the story of the world's first transsexual, Variety reports.

Nicole joined the project in September, signing up to play Einar Wegener, a man who became Lili Elbe after a sex-change operation in the 1930s and Gwyneth has replaced the previously-cast Charlize Theron as Einar's wife, Greta.

Painter Greta asks her husband to don a dress to stand in for one of her models, which sparks his desire to become a woman.

Alfredson is directing from a script by Lucinda Coxon, who adapted the novel by David Ebershoff.
