Murphy 'too upset' to watch TV appeal over raid

SOCIALITE Lisa Murphy will not watch an RTE appeal tonight for information about her stolen jewellery as she is still "too traumatised" after the raid.
Gardai will be hoping for some fresh leads from the 'Crimecall' programme which will include an item on the €1.5m jewellery raid on the Co Wicklow home she shares with solicitor Gerald Kean on the night of May 26.
During the ordeal Ms Murphy was bound, gagged and threatened.
Although there will be no reconstruction of the raid, Mr Kean said that being reminded of the incident on television was still more than his partner could bear.
"Lisa really wants to put this behind her. It would be too painful for her to watch something like this. She really needs more time to get through it," Mr Kean told the Irish Independent.
However, the couple may still feature in the programme as producers are using pictures of them wearing the items stolen in the raid, which include a €500,000 engagement ring given to Ms Murphy by for-mer fiance Michael Flatley.
Mr Kean said he hoped the appeal would make it impossible for the gang involved to offload the items -- which were not insured.
"I can't see them ever getting rid of these valuables in Ireland. It would be great if they were caught and I'm very confident in everything the gardai are doing," he said.
Mr Kean said he was hopeful that Ms Murphy would make her first public appearance since the robbery this Friday in Cork at Mayfield GAA club's annual golf event.
Tonight's 'Crimecall' at 9.35 on RTE One also features an appeal for information about the murder of Dublin man Dean Johnston in Clondalkin on May 25.
