Carey Mulligan has revealed she has been given fashion advice by Anna Wintour - and is choosing to ignore it.
The 24-year-old An Education star - who is nominated for a best actress Oscar - sat next to the infamous editor of US Vogue in the front row of a show at New York Fashion Week and was given fashion tips for the awards ceremony, but confessed she has her own dream dress in mind.
Carey revealed: "She said I should wear short to the Oscars, and I was like, no, that's so not what I had in my head when I was six years old."
The young British actress insisted she wasn't intimidated by Wintour - rumoured to be the inspiration behind the book The Devil Wears Prada - but found her "lovely".
Carey said: "We didn't really talk. I mean, you know, you get snapped but I don't really know her.
"You sit there for a second and they take a picture and it looks like you are mates and you're not. She's lovely, but, you know, she's Anna Wintour."
The rising star, who picked up her latest trophy at the London Critics Circle Awards in London on Thursday night, insisted Wintour had not invited her to feature in Vogue, adding: "But, that would be nice."
Carey - who said earlier this week that she would not be drinking at awards ceremonies - also revealed that she would be partying hard at the Baftas.
She said: "I didn't mean the Baftas, I meant the American ones. They don't do that very much in America so I thought I'd save it all for them (the Baftas)."
