IT WAS A fairytale wedding, lavish beyond the dreams of Hans Christian Anderson, but exactly 72 days after tying the knot the queen of celebrity TV, Kim Kardashian, has filed for divorce.
She married basketball player Kris Humphries in a banquet that pushed out the borders for Hollywood extravagance, the bill for which was believed to have been at least $10m (€7.1m).
But now the 31-year-old star of the TV show 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' has cited irreconcilable differences in divorce papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.
"After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. We remain friends and wish each other the best," Kardashian said in a statement.
The court papers show that Ms Kardashian has asked the court to confirm that jewellery and other personal items, as well as earnings before and during the marriage, be considered separate property. It also notes the couple has a prenuptial agreement.
Kardashian and Humphries married on August 20 in southern California. More than three million US viewers watched a two-part TV special earlier this month called 'Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian event'.
