The 27-year-old made light of the gossip, joking that she was not like Erica Kane, a character from the US television soap All My Children, who has endured multiple failed marriages.
Writing on Twitter, Perry, who recently received two Grammy nominations, said: “First I’m pregnant & then I’m divorced. What am I? All My Children?! Erica Kane? Pshhh #ifihadadollarforeverytime ...”
It was rumoured yesterday that she had filed divorce papers in Los Angeles.
Speculation over her relationship with the comedian also mounted after Brand was not seen attending the Grammy nominations ceremony in Los Angeles, despite performing in California the previous evening.
Backstage at the ceremony, Perry insisted she looking forward to taking some time off with Brand, 36, who she married in India last October.
“I have worked my big buttocks off. I’m having a break now. I’m gonna have a long catnap,” she said.
The pair, who have rarely been pictured together in recent months, bonded last week by both getting tattoos.
Perry has been nominated for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for her Jack Kerouac-inspired song Firework at the 54th Grammys in February.
