She discovered her gift for hypnosis when she put her whole class under, aged just eight. At summer camp, Katie Jane used mind over matter to fuse shut the palms of all her friends. She was copying one of the routines from her dad, Paul Goldin's stage show, but, unfortunately, hadn't yet learned how to release them, so the irate camp organisers had to telephone her dad to come down and undo his daughter's handiwork.
These days, she puts her skills to a more constructive use, running the flagship Paul Goldin Clinic in south Dublin. Although only just 24, she's been heading up the whole operation single-handedly for more than a year now since her dad stepped down.
She knows how to get her own way in relationships, but fortunately, this doesn't involve putting them in a trance and then ordering them around. Men and women alike use certain behaviours, such as flirting, to influence and manipulate the impressions and behaviours of others, and this in itself, according to Katie Jane, is a form of hypnosis.
She's proud of the fact that she's learnt everything that she knows from her father. She's achieved professional qualifications in both hypnosis and neurolinguistic programming, but ultimately her father is the person to whom she has looked for education and inspiration since she's been old enough to ask.
She is utterly convinced that she could change your life. Performing small miracles is part of her daily routine. In life-improvement techniques such as giving up smoking, losing weight, and building confidence, she claims a success rate "in the high 90s".
Success and positivity are central to the rubric under which she grew up. The Goldins are a preternaturally accomplished family. Her brother has been nominated for an Emmy, while she has made a role for herself on television and in print and she is writing a book on weight loss.
