It’s awkward if you have to fondle the director’s wife

Gentlemen prefer Alan's durable attire

By the time we arrived at 7pm, a recession-busting party was in full swing. Personally, I think we need more parties of this kind in the current climate. And more people like Alan Kelly (who by the way could also turn a buck as a Colin Farrell stand-in) in Irish fashion retail too.

When I'm looking for something special, I turn to master Kelly, as do the likes of tenor Paul Byrom, Brown Sugar's Mark O'Keefe and funnyman (I'm not quite sure if that's funny ha-ha or funny peculiar) Mario Rosenstock who all popped over to the shop during the day to join in the festivities with Alan.

"Tonight's party is to celebrate seven years of Gentlemen Please in Blackrock," Alan told me, "and it's a thank-you to all our loyal customers."

Seven-year itch? Seven-year stitch is more like it. They do that too.
