Sarah Whelan (32) from Wicklow, Client Account Manager at Intro Matchmaking Agency in Dublin, has been single for six years.
"Call me cynical, but I don't think there's any such thing as a Mark Darcy.
"At Intro, we meet women all the time who are searching for the 'perfect' man.
"Unlike rom-coms though, everyone has their flaws, so a lot of the time, it's our job to bring them back down to earth.
"Now that Helen Fielding has killed off Mark Darcy, Bridget is going to have to face that reality too.
"There's no doubt that the dating scene has changed a lot since the book first came out in 1996.
"In my teens and 20s, meeting guys seemed so easy.
"As I've gotten older, I suppose I've become more discerning, and am no longer interested in meeting drunk guys in bars.
"Over the past few years, I've had a few relationships, but nothing serious.
"Although online dating worked for Bridget, personally, I would never try it.
"I'd prefer to meet someone the old-fashioned way through family or friends, who can vouch for them.
"Nowadays, people are getting married older, so I don't feel any pressure to settle down.
"Only one of my close friends is engaged, and I couldn't be happier for her, but I've got plenty of single friends too.
"My ideal man would be tall, genuine and have good manners.
"Given that our oldest client is 79, at 32, I've still got plenty of time to find him!"
