Helen gets a hand from glove genius

If you were to define the quintessential Hitchcock accessory, it would surely be the glove. Just think Grace Kelly in Rear Window, or Kim Novak in Vertigo. Which is clearly why Helen Mirren called on our own Paula Rowan, glove designer supreme, for the premiere in London last week of her new Hitchcock movie.
It's true – Paula is not just Ireland's top glove designer, she is the go-to glove designer for celebrities of all hues. But to be fair to Helen Mirren, she discovered La Rowan long before many of them.
This is the second time Helen has worn Rowan gloves on the red carpet. Last week's Hitchcock premiere followed on her appearance at last year's British Comedy Awards, all gloved up by Rowan. "She was very complimentary about the styling and the richness of the gloves she wore on that occasion, but I was still surprised and delighted to hear her request again," Paula told me in her Westbury Mall store last week.
"This time she chose the Brigitte elbow-length suede glove which added a gorgeous silhouette to her glamorous gown" (it looked like Dolce & Gabbana, but stop me before I turn into Constance Harris.)
Paula Rowan's style and business savvy are as chic and sharp as the gloves that are helping her build a successful designer retail business. Now opened in Glasthule, as well as the Westbury Mall, her gloves are the ideal, elegant but useful, Christmas gift.
