Video: Independent.ie’s Mark McConville going all out for Movember this year

The time of year has come again where I have been in two minds whether or not to give up my lip for a month, yes- its Movember time!
Its normally round the middle of October when I get the urge to join the crusade, because the idea of raising money for a well-known cause is something I really want to do.
But I always seem to chicken out last minute; namely because one I don’t suit a hairy lip and secondly, I’ve had my ‘chinstrap’ for over seven years and would need to shave it off to do Movember properly.
However, this year I've bitten the bullet, and due to popular demand the ‘Chinstrap’ will go and my lip will be left given the freedom to grow what it can for a good cause.
All joking aside, Movember is not only responsible for the growing of millions of moustaches around the world, it also helps raise vital funds and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer and mental health.
The majority of people have been affected some way or another with these issues and if me looking silly for a month can help raise funds for these causes its a no-brainer.
I will update of my progress during the month and show my progress. If my moustache turns out anything like my dads (Big Kev) when he was a young’in people will be screaming in horror!
All money raised will go to a good cause. You can donate by clicking 'sponsor me' here.
P.s. Getting rid of my ‘Chinstrap’ is worth a few euro itself - go on!
