Up and Running: International Flavour at final Urban Trail of season

The 300 entrants in the final Urban Trail Series race of the 2014 spring season in Tymon Park enjoyed cool but dry conditions. There was an international flavour to the event, with several overseas entrants, including a large contingent of school teachers making the trip from Las Vegas to enjoy their spring break holiday in Ireland.
It was American runner, Sean Handel, who posted the day's most impressive performance, coming home as the two-lap winner in 36.30, ahead of Dublin's Gary Tyrell (38.16) and Sefano Georgio, Italy, third in 38.43.
In the Women's race, Mags Fitzgerald won a close contest in 43.26 from Bronagh Elliot in 43.39 and Wendy Bates, who was third in 44.30.
In the shorter one-lap race, promising local Junior Ben Clark achieved his second win of the series in 20.29, with Stephen Willoughby second in 20.34 and Eugene Fox third in 21.03.
In the Women's one-lap event, Rose Lenehan came up trumps, winning in 22.44, with Wexford's Flora McKnight second in 25.10 and Michelle Dowling third in 25.56.
SWEENEY HAS EASY WIN
Joe Sweeney (DSD) won Sunday's Ardravan Clinic Inishowen Half-Marathon finishing in 1:09.13, well clear of Greg Roberts in 1:15.37 and Chris McGuinness in 1:16.18. David Graham was fourth in 1:16.45 and Pauric McKinney fifth in 1:18.59. Pauline Curley won the Women's in 1:20.13; then Claire McGuigan in 1:28.10 and Martina Campbell in 1:28.46.
