The west Cork village of Ardfield was the venue for the second annual 5k and 10k races, organised by the local Ardfield/Rathbarry Playground Group.
Michael Dullea from Drimoleague was the clear winner of the 10k, his time of 34.35 for the up-and-down course being a little more than a half-minute outside his best, writes John Walshe.
"I enjoyed that today as I love the hills," said the 37-year-old, who concentrates on duathlons for the earlier part of the year but will now have a go at cross-country as he has recently joined the Skibbereen club.
Don Keohane of Eagle finished a distant second in 38.02, with his clubmate, Ciaran Bouse, taking third spot in 38.59.
Ronnie Barry from Barryroe, a member of the Bandon club, was first woman in 42.29, with Margaret Callanan, also Bandon, second in 45.26 and unattached runner Eleanor Griffin finishing third in 45.41.
Leevale's Donal Coffey ran a fine time of 16.23 to win the 5k, with the female honours going to Maire Walsh (22.49).
There was a great community aspect to the day which saw more than 100 taking part in the 10k with another 160 participating over the 5k.
